The global real estate association FIABCI and the Swiss association 2000-Watt Smart Cities (2000WSCA) celebrated the release of the video "Living Experience of Sustainability" at this year's international real estate trade fair MIPIM in Cannes/France. The five-minute film shows the Greencity in Zurich, which serves as a model for many other sustainable and energy-saving neighborhoods and cities around the world.

Zurich's example of sustainability...

The cooperation between FIABCI-SUISSE and 2000WSCA has been in place since June 2021. "With the help of the global association FIABCI International, we have a wealth of opportunities to multiply the sustainability model that has been tried and tested in Switzerland on a global scale," explains Andreas Binkert, President of 2000WSCA, at the launch of the campaign. FIABCI-SUISSE President Thomas H. Henle adds: "We also want to encourage project and urban developers on the international stage to consider the criteria of the 2000-Watt philosophy."

The newly released video entitled "Living Experience of Sustainability" uses a number of case studies and the opinions of many participants and users of the Greencity area in Zurich to show how striving for and living with sustainability goals has become a reality and what it can look like. "What we have achieved in Zurich can be replicated anywhere else in the world," says Binkert. His particular focus is on emerging countries such as India and China. "The aim here is to control the increasing energy consumption at an early stage - and if possible, to cap the increase."

"It is important to be able to show successful practical examples that work in planning, construction and also in building operation and have already proven their added value there," says FIABCI-SUISSE President Thomas H. Henle. He is convinced that many countries and continents around the world could benefit from the Swiss sustainability concept and thus achieve the climate goals of the United Nations (UN).

...as a model for many other countries around the world

"As a non-profit, non-governmental organization, the real estate association FIABCI has been working closely with the UN for many years in the areas of project development and urban planning. We at 2000WSCA can perfectly complement this long-standing cooperation with our direct practical experience in the building sector with regard to sustainability and energy reduction. I hope that many other countries will soon be able to benefit from the advantages of a real estate world based on the 2000-watt concept," says Binkert.

ABOUT 2000-WATT SMART CITIES ASSOCIATION

The 2000-Watt Smart Cities Association (2000-WSCA) concept is the world's first to combine sustainable urban development with smart technologies to improve living comfort and productivity. The innovative approach includes efficiency: clean electrification, smart digital technology, state-of-the-art buildings and infrastructure, and a circular economy approach to water, waste and materials. The concept focuses on small and dense settlements, so-called "walkable cities" (both greenfield and brownfield). In 2000-watt smart cities and neighborhoods, all daily necessities are within walking distance. In addition, these communities are very well connected with each other. This concept has already been successfully implemented 38 times in Switzerland.
